Q. I received a message saying "The mailbox me@mydomain.com is almost full. You should remove some emails from the box as soon as possible to prevent losing any future mail." But I cannot see any email in my webmail or trash folders.

A. Login to cPanel at http://www.yourdomain.com/cpanel with your hosting account/cpanel username and password. (The hosting/cpanel username/password were assigned to you by the server when you got your hosting account, and the information was sent to you in your Welcome email. CLICK HERE for instructions for re-sending yourself a copy of that Welcome email if you have lost it)

Once logged in at cPanel, click the Spam Assassin icon. Then scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Clear Spambox". If you had Spam Assassin enabled and there was any spam in your spam box/es, you will see a message stating which spam boxes were cleared.

USING HORDE WEBMAIL TO FIND AND DELETE HIDDEN EMAILS:

  1. Go back to the cPanel main page (click "Home" in the upper right corner of any cPanel page). Then click the Webmail icon. You will see different webmail program choices. Choose Horde. Then on the next screen click "Log In".

  2. Wait for Horde to load (just a few seconds usually, unless you have a ton of stuff in there).
    Then:
Click Mail at the top right.
    Click Folders at the top.
Folder Navigator: in Choose Action (at top): Choose "Rebuild Folder Tree."

    Then:
Look on the list on the left:

    • Horde

    • + Mail

    • + Organizing

    • + Information

    • Options

    • Log out

  3. Click the plus sign next to Mail.

  4. Click the Inbox.

  5. Now click Options at the top of the screen. These Inbox options are different options than you get when you first login to Horde.

  6. In the middle under "Message Options", click on "Deleting and Moving Messages". Click the boxes to check all three choices (Note: this may have already been done for you):

X Return to the mailbox listing after deleting, moving, or copying a message?

X Delete spam messages after they have been reported as spam?

X When deleting messages, move them to your Trash folder instead of marking them as deleted?

Under Trash Folder, leave it so it says "Create a new trash folder"

You can also leave the box under that checked, which says "Display the 'Empty Trash' link in the menubar?"

    Then click "Save Options".

  7. Now go back to the list of folders on the left again. Because you are in the primary/default email account (for your catchall/main email), you get to see ALL email accounts associated with your hosting account. If someone has used both webmail and pop mail at any time, you may see duplicate folders: one folder for the account name in the main list, and another folder INSIDE a folder that has your domain name on it. Open every folder and then open its inbox, trash folders, etc. Delete what you need to.

  8. Remember to empty all trash afterward!!

  9. If there are just too many messages for you to delete one page at a time (e.g., thousands) and you truly do not care about keeping ANY of them, submit a Helpdesk ticket requesting to have them all deleted for you in one fell swoop. This kind of deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
