Q. I just purchased a Domain Transfer. Now what?

A. Now you start watching your email.

Please watch very carefully over the few hours for an additional, automated email sent to the Administrative Contact email address which is currently on file in WHOIS for the domain. The new email will be from "Do Not Reply" with the subject "Transfer Authorization for yourdomain.com" where yourdomain.com is your actual domain. Read it carefully and click the link in that email to authorize the transfer. If you do not receive the Transfer Authorization email, please look in your junk mail folders. The Domain Transfer will fail unless verified by you at the link provided.

When you click the Authorize link in that email, you will be taken to a confirmation page. If the confirmation indicates success, then your part is done and we just need to wait for the old registrar to release the domain. It usually takes about 5 days for a domain to be released by a losing registrar. Most often there is nothing that can be done by either side to speed the process, as transferring-out domains are usually just put into a bulk queue for automatic release at the end of the 5th day.

If you do not get the Authorization email:
  1. Do a WHOIS lookup and be sure that the domain's WHOIS information is not hidden by proxy or domain privacy.

  2. Do a WHOIS lookup and be sure that the email address listed for the Administrative Contact for the domain is one which you have access to.

  3. Look in your spam or junk mail folders.

  4. Make sure that you do not have spam filters or junk mail filters set up which automatically permanently discard mail tagged as junk or spam (aka a hard delete). If this is the case, and if the email got falsely tagged as junk, it's gone for good. First REMOVE that setting or filter, and then submit a Helpdesk ticket requesting that the transfer authorization email be re-sent.
